MILAN NARAYAN / THE STORY
ONE CLUB.
THEN EVERYTHING.
This started long before I had a full set, a handicap, or any idea where golf would take me.

WHAT YOU’VE GOT.
My family didn’t have much money when I was growing up. We hired clubs when we could and looked through garage sales for old ones. Then Dad bought me a brand-new steel-shafted six-iron.
I was little. It hurt my arms when I hit it. But it was mine, and I hit it over and over until I could make it do things I didn’t have words for yet.
At the St Lucia range, I watched other kids turn up with full sets. I had one club. I kept going.
SCRATCH.
THEN AWAY.
I played off scratch as a junior. I learned by playing, watching, listening, and experimenting. A lot of that game became instinct.
Then golf stopped feeling like a place I wanted to be. I was bullied around the game when I was young, and I walked away from it for a long time.
Coming back as an adult has been humbling. I remember what good golf felt like. I can’t always produce it on demand.
FIND THE
GOLFER AGAIN.
When I picked up the clubs again with Lydia’s family, something came back immediately. I wanted to see how far I could take this.
I’m rebuilding my game and unpacking the instincts that once felt automatic. What do I see before a shot? What am I protecting against? Which choices actually save strokes?
I’ll show the good rounds and the ugly ones. If what I learn helps you find a better version of your own game, even better.
